Guard Duty around the bird house
by Reggie

Have spent almost the whole morning walking Guard Duty around the bird
house.

Have one pair of sparrows who insist that they should live there. If
they move in, the purple martins won't. So, I've spent the morning
flanking a post to keep the sparrows chased off.

Finally gave up and let them in the birdhouse. Then, sneaked over, took
my weapon (a #2 D-handled shovel) and banged hell out of the metal pole.

They departed at high speed and low altitude. In a huff.

Figger that'll take care of them for a day or so. Or at least until
their headaches go away.

But still think that the birdhouse may have been put up about 2 weeks
too late to attract the purple martins.
